Intersectional Discrimination

INTERSECTIONALITY is the complex and cumulative way that one person or group may experience multiple types of discrimination
(such as discrimination based on race + gender + sexual orientation + economic class).

BLACK GIRLS MATTER:   According to the US Department of Education 2016, Black Girls were:

  • four times more likely to be arrested; 

  • three times more likely to receive corporal punishment; 

  • three times more likely to be referred to law enforcement; and

  • twice as a likely to be physically restrained than white girls
